• 49% of the population is Latino.
• 28% of the population is between the ages of five and 18, and 10% is under five years of age.
• 27.5% of residents are disabled (compared to 19% for the state and the nation).
• 38% of residents are functionally illiterate.
• 50% of adults did not graduate from high school.
• 92.6% of adults are without a college education.
• One in three residents lives below the poverty level; 28% of households earn less than $30,000 annually.
• 49% of residents do not have access to a computer at home.

The programs and services planned for the 81st Avenue branch address the needs of this growing, diverse community, with valuable offerings for every age and interest.
