    This Weekend in Old Oakland

    4/24/2012

At last, District will be opening it’s doors in Old Oakland this Friday! From the peeks I’ve gotten while walking by on the street (okay, while sticking my head inside the doors and gawking), it’s going to be amazing inside. Here’s a sneak peak pic from their Facebook page:

The grand opening event is this Friday, April 27th starting at 4pm. This location is at 827 Washington Street (just a block away from the Bookmark Bookstore – so stop by the store on your way to the celebration!).

Also going on this weekend is a fun event at Marion and Rose’s Workshop. Have you ever wanted to roast your own coffee beans? Well now you can learn how! This Saturday, April 28th from 10am-2pm, Marion and Rose’s Workshop is hosting a fun D.I.Y. coffee roasting workshop with the coffeebike founder Eric Cabunoc. The workshop is $25, and you can get all the details on the event, including how to purchase tickets, on the event’s Facebook page.

And a bit of good news….several of the popuphood shops have signed leases! We are incredibly excited to find out that our neighbors are becoming permanent fixtures in Old Oakland. There will be a celebration at the next First Friday Art Murmur event. More in that as the date gets closer!
