The Bookmark (and Old Oakland) in the news!
The Bookmark Bookstore has been getting noticed in the press lately! In the May 17th article by Stephanie Wright Hession for the San Francisco Chronicle, the Bookmark Bookstore is bullet point #2 in her list of good places to visit in Old Oakland. You can read a copy of that article here.
Our fabulous Alice in Wonderland week, which is still going on today and tomorrow, appeared in Jon Carroll’s May 10th article for the San Francisco Chronicle. It might not seem obvious at first, but if you read through to the bottom, you can see us there! (And you can read that here!).
And not to be left out, our local popuphood was the focus of an NPR radio broadcast. Anthony Stelzer’s interview with one of the organizers of the popuphood and some of the popup shop’s owners can be found here, including a transcript in case you’d like to read it instead.
And good news on the popuphood front – most of the shops have signed leases and will be in Old Oakland permanently! So the next time you drop by the Bookmark Bookstore, stroll on down to 9th street and see what the new shops have to offer.
