4th of July in Old Oakland

The Bookmark Bookstore will be closed tomorrow on the 4th of July, but if you are in our neighborhood and are hankering for something to do to celebrate our country’s independence, check out the Pardee Home Museum’s Patriotic Picnic and BBQ! It’s going on from noon until 4pm, and the theme this year is 1912. So if you come dressed in century-old garb (or something that looks like it), you will receive $2 off admission, which $15 for adults and $5 for kids aged 5-11 (under 5? You get in for free!). Admission gets you live, old-timey piano music, picnic food, games (like badminton and croquet) and crafts for the kids. All proceeds from this event go towards maintaining this historic property (this mansion was home to two men who became Oakland mayors and California governors. Want to know more? Click here!).

The Bookmark will reopen Thursday with it’s regular hours (10:30-5:30). Hope to see you there (and at the picnic!).
