    First Friday in Old Oakland…

    8/3/2012

…this time including the Bookmark Bookstore! Julie Waldman’s quilts are on display already, and they look fantastic. We also have a huge display of crafting books ready to be bought by any crafty shopper at a 20% discount, as the whole store is on sale! So drop by anytime between 5-9 to check out the quilts (possibly buy one!), meet the quilter (a FOPL board member), shop for books, eat some brownies and relax with a drink. We are so excited about joining First Friday, and we hope to see lots of you there!

    Elsewhere in Old Oakland…

Crown Nine, as part of Art Murmur, will be open from 6-10pm displaying artwork by Michelle Tholen. There will be a DJ spinning tunes as well as the Hot Dog Lady serving up (what else?) hot dogs!

Marion & Rose’s Workshop, also a part of Art Murmur, will be hosting a First Friday reception with artwork by Victoria Wagner and small bites to eat provided by Tamarindo.

Piper & John’s General Goods will be hosting a First Friday event with music and drinks. Come check out the new layout of the store…it looks great, and there are tons of new items to buy!

Umami Mart is celebrating their grand opening! They are located at 815 Broadway, and they are a part of the Pop-Up Hood. If their name sounds familiar, you might remember them from the time they popped up inside of Piper & John’s General Goods…a popup within a popup!

Also staying open late is Old Oakland newbie McMullen, also a part of the Pop-Up Hood!

Speaking of the Pop-Up Hood…there should be more festivities in and around Old Oakland featuring a Pop-Up Hood booth, food, drinks, music…the usual!

And last, but not least, Ratto’s Market and Deli will be staying open late with Jazz performances from 3:30-7:30pm. There  will be sandwiches and small plates, and no cover to get in. A great deal!

As you can see, there’s no shortage of things to do and see tonight in Old Oakland. We sure hope you include a visit to the Bookmark Bookstore while you are out!
