2022 Spring Sale at The Bookmark!

The Friends of the Oakland Public Library is having their semi-annual Spring Book Sale Thursday, April 21-Sunday, April 24, 11am-4pm. And guess what? All the proceeds benefit the Oakland Public Library.

Banned books! Get your banned books! And your cookbooks (we have scores). And fiction, biography, memoirs, and poetry. Puzzles and sheet music? Check. Children’s books, YA, and manga? We’ve got you covered. Books on architecture, philosophy, political science, and history. Yup. Want to learn about our vibrant, diverse city? You can find classic texts on Oakland as well as novels that spring from our neighborhoods.

You can’t miss it. Really! Where else would you find a hardback copy of Deborah Madison’s Vegetarian Cooking for Everyone – a gospel in our house – for $5? Nowhere else, that’s where! Or the literature and history of women and of Black Americans? Because The Bookmark Bookstore thinks every month should be Women’s History and Black History month!

The Bookmark celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, so we are especially excited to welcome you to celebrate at our semi-annual 4-day sales event! The sale begins on Thursday, April 21, 2022 and Members of the Friends of the Oakland Public Library save 50% on all purchases that day! Membership may be purchased on the day of the sale for $25 per year, $15 for seniors and full-time students.

After the first day, all shoppers receive a discount of 30% on Friday, April 22. The discount increases each day with savings of 40% on April 23 and 50% on April 24. The discount applies to already low prices of $3 to $6 for most of the 17,000 books in the store. The Bookmark features books of general interest, CDs, LPs, comics and a selection of collectible books.

Come shop and support the library at The Bookmark Bookstore, located at 721 Washington Street in Old Oakland, convenient to AC Transit and BART (12th Street station). The store will be open 11:00 am to 4:00 pm each day during the sale. Call us for more information (510) 444-0473.
